Monday Oct. 25: Yeah! Blue Moon comes in really handy at the end of the month. I had a really shitty day at work. Last day to sign for refinances… shoot me. Even though I spent the entire weekend in front of my sewing machine, all I wanted to do today was go back home and sew some more.
I had one too many Blue Moons on Friday night at happy hour and I woke up Saturday with a raging headache 😦 Surprisingly, I was completely inspired to drive my hung-over ass to Joann Fabrics and design myself a tunic. I was inspired by a peacock sequined tunic my most favorite blogger wore to a concert and thought the design might be easy enough to replicate without a pattern…..
Wednesday Oct 27: Oh Bloggity Blog, how I’ve missed you. I started this post on Monday, but I was so uninspired. The end of the month in the mortgage business is such a pain in my ass, the last thing I want to do when I come home is sit in front of the computer. However, I can’t hide forever! I am so excited about what I accomplished over the weekend, its about time I share it. As I was saying, I was inspired by a top that Carey from Corks and Caftans wore and decided to make myself a little something like it. I walked the aisles of bolted fabric at Joann’s, grabbed a sheer green snakeskin material, pulled the fabric off the bolt, stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling mirror and wrapped it all around my upper-body. That’s why there’s a mirror in the fabric section, right? It looked like it would hang just right on my body (I am still learning about fabric choices, but this one actually worked!) and it was only $4.49/yard. I spent from 4:00pm Saturday until SNL came on that night working on the top. I am definitely learning by doing, but I am really proud of the work I did on this piece. I didn’t use a pattern (which is a 1st for me), I ironed, pinned, and stitched the crap out of this thing.
Here are some pics I took on my own, handy-dandy little self-timer; don’t worry, I’m working on my modeling in my free time. (Sorry about the red eye, too, I tried to remove it, but it put huge splotches on my eyelids and I looked like a cast member of Jerseylicious.)
Stay tuned, there’s more to come! Cheers!
Well done!
Love it. Pretty and inexpensive. You can’t beat clothes that you make yourself.
Thanks, girl!
